Cleaning schedule: what to clean daily, weekly and monthly?
A practical cleaning schedule for your home. Keep the house tidy without spending every weekend on it.

A clean house without spending your whole Saturday on it? The secret is keeping up: small jobs often, big jobs now and then. Adapt this schedule to your own home and rhythm.
Every day (10–15 minutes)
- Load and unload the dishwasher or wash it
- Wipe down the countertop and hob
- Sweep crumbs in the kitchen
- Put things back in their place
- Bathroom: quick wipe of the sink, pull down the shower screen
Every week
- Vacuum and mop all floors
- Thoroughly clean the bathroom and toilet
- Change the beds
- Dust cupboards, windowsills and the TV unit
- Check the fridge for old items
- Empty and clean the waste bins
Every month
- Windows on the inside
- Clean the microwave and oven
- Degrease the extractor fan filter
- Wipe down skirting boards, doors and light switches
- Vacuum under the sofa and the bed

Split the schedule
Spread the weekly tasks over a few days instead of doing everything in one day. For example: Monday bathroom, Wednesday vacuum and mop, Friday dusting and beds. In a household, agree on tasks per person.
No time? Many people have a cleaner do the weekly tasks (2–3 hours per week or fortnight) and only keep up the daily jobs themselves.
