How many cleaning hours do you need? Guideline per property

"How many hours should I book?" is the most frequently asked question by new customers. If you book too few, work will be left undone. If you book too many, you’ll be paying for nothing. This guide will usually get you right.

The guide in one table

HomeFixed appointmentFirst time / one‑off
Studio or flat up to 50 m²2 hours3 hours
Apartment 50–80 m²2,5 hours3–3,5 hours
Detached house 80–110 m²3 hours4 hours
Home 110–150 m²4 hours5 hours
Larger than 150 m²5 hours or more6 hours or more

Add about half an hour per extra bathroom. For an end-of-tenancy cleaning (verhuizen, oplevering) you should allow roughly one and a half times as much time, because cupboards, appliances and skirtings are also cleaned thoroughly.

Why does the first time take longer?

The first cleaning is often a catch‑up: limescale in the shower, grease on the extractor fan, dust in places no one reaches. After that it’s mainly maintenance. Many customers book an extra hour the first time and then revert to the normal number of hours.

What does a cleaner do in those hours?

  • Vacuuming and mopping all floors
  • Kitchen: worktop, hob, cabinet fronts and sink
  • Bathroom and toilet: sanitary ware, tiles, mirror and taps
  • Dusting window sills, cupboards and skirting boards
  • Changing beds (if you request it)
  • Emptying waste

Extras such as ironing, cleaning the inside of windows, the fridge or the oven each take about half an hour extra.

How to get more out of your hours

Tidy up a bit beforehand. A cleaner does the cleaning; tidying up takes precious time. With a tidy house, every hour goes to the real work.
  • Set the cleaning products aside in a fixed spot.
  • Indicate what has priority (for example: bathroom and kitchen always, bedrooms every other week).
  • Choose a regular appointment: the house stays tidy and each visit is more efficient.

Still unsure?

Fill in the booking form your living space and the number of bathrooms; you’ll get an instant recommendation. You can always adjust the number of hours later.
